PI (Physik Instrumente) L.P. is offering the PI miCos line of precision linear stages.

The line includes more than 20 products, starting with miniature translation stages and positioning ranges of 40 mm to high-load linear translation stages for travel ranges to 1 m. The motorized positioners are supplied in a variety of standard and custom versions, including open-loop stages with stepper motors and leadscrew drive, and high-speed and high-accuracy models with linear encoders featuring up to 1-nm resolution.

Most stages come in vacuum- and cleanroom-compatible versions. Customers can chose between rotary servomotors, linear servomotors and stepper motors. Closed-loop models are offered with optical high-resolution position feedback. Besides single-axis linear stages, the company designs and manufactures X-Y positioning stages, precision Z-stages (elevation stages) and precision rotation stages.

Motion controllers with USB and RS-232 interfaces are available to match positioning mechanics and application requirements.

Applications include semiconductor alignment, biotechnology, aerospace technology, fiber optic alignment, microscopy and optics research.

Features include positioning ranges from 40 to 1000 mm; resolution of 0.2 μm to 1 nm; and a choice of crossed-roller, linear or recirculating bearings.
