Employing state-of-the-art technology, Schott AG has added another LED cold light source to its portfolio. The KL 1600 LED delivers light output equivalent to a150-W halogen lamp (650 lm) out of a 9-mm-diameter fiber bundle.

The fiber optic cold light source with a multiple-LED light engine delivers high brightness, rendering it a standard illumination system for the requirements of all stereomicroscopes. A silent fan assures optimized heat management.

The LED has a lifetime of ≥50,000 h, meaning that users never have to change bulbs.

Emitting neutral white light (~5600 K), the KL 1600 LED is DC-driven. The ripple-free illumination is suitable for digital imaging applications. The color temperature stays nearly constant during dimming, and the LED can focus high light intensities to a very small field of view.
