High-precision adjustment screws with a 170-thread-per-in. (TPI) thread pitch have been announced by Newport Corp.

The company says that they provide a 43% improvement in sensitivity over standard 100-TPI adjustment screws. In timed alignment testing, a mirror mount with the adjusters was consistently aligned within a band of ±3 µrad in about half the time as the same mount with 100-TPI threads.

The stainless steel threads are mated with the collet and a proprietary lubricant to allow a full 12.7 mm of fine, stictionless movement. The standard 9.5-mm-diameter collet is threaded with a nut for easy mounting to optical mounts and stages.

The adjustment screws are nonlocking and are available with a knob or with a 2-mm hex key.
