Tunable Laser and Wide-Band Tunable Filters

LANNION, France, Sept. 14, 2012 — Yenista Optics has released Tunics T100S-HP/CL, a high-power tunable laser, and XTM-50/W and XTA-50/W, XT-type flattop optical tunable filters that offer wide-bandwidth adjustment ranges.

The laser outputs at least 10 dBm over the 1500- to 1630-nm tuning range. It guarantees a signal-to-source spontaneous emission ratio higher than 90 dB. Innovations have been implemented in its external cavity design, enabling an increase in output power and stability without compromising other specifications.

The company’s new filters increase the maximum achievable bandwidth to 3 nm. They offer bandwidth adjustability from 50 pm (6.25 GHz) to 3000 pm (375 GHz) with very sharp filter edges (500 dB/nm). The filters cover the 1520- to 1570-nm-wavelength range and have an insertion loss of <5 dB in combination with a top flatness of 0.2 dB.
