oWEDGEMetaStable Instruments Inc. has unveiled the model G1002 "beam tweaker" for deviating a laser beam through small angles without displacing the pivot point of the beam from the original beam axis. The optical wedge features Cartesian adjustments and sensitivities as fine as 0.1 arc sec of beam deviation per degree of rotation of the actuator. Uncoated, it transmits more than 90% of the beam and, using antireflection coatings, can transmit more than 98%. The G1002 has a maximum angular deviation of the transmitted beam of >2°. It has a spectral range from 400 to 1600 nm, and ultraviolet and infrared versions also are available. The device, which measures 99 x 105 x 23 mm and has a 64-mm base and 10-mm clear aperture, can be mounted to the laser, table or bench.
