The MW9076 family of miniature optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDR) from Anritsu Co. display measurement results in 10 s and have a sampling speed of 0.15 s. The dynamic range of the four models in this family range from 34 to 45 dB. The devices have an 8-m dead zone and can acquire up to 50,000 sampling points with resolutions from 5 cm to 80 m. Available with the units is an 8.4-in. color display or 7.2-in. color liquid crystal display. An internal optical switch allows up to eight fibers to be measured in sequence and up to 32 fibers using an external switch. An automated testing function allows the units to perform predetermined tests. The MW9076 OTDRs are suitable for multifiber testing applications and real-time monitoring of fusion or mechanical splices.
