BMU80 Fiber Laser Pump

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 13, 2013 — Oclaro Inc.’s new BMU80 high-power fiber-coupled laser diode pump can deliver 80 W in a 105-µm fiber, enabling fiber laser manufacturers to generate higher pump power levels using fewer modules.

The single-emitter-based platform is available at output powers of 80 W with a 0.15 numerical aperture (NA) or 65 W with <0.14 NA, making it suitable for pumping of kilowatt and high-power pulsed fiber lasers.

A proprietary optical scheme delivers light into the fiber with high coupling efficiency and a controlled, underfilled NA, along with a cladding mode stripping feature, which reduces losses at the combiner. Automated alignment and manufacturing processes enable high volume and consistency in module-to-module performance.
