Edmund Optics’ polymer wave plates (retarders) transmit light while modifying its optical polarization state and do not attenuate, deviate or displace the beam.

Available in λ/4 and λ/2 retardance, they feature a thin birefringent polymer film layered between two glass windows for increased durability. Designed to act as true zero-order wave plates, they offer stable performance over wavelength shift and wide angles of incidence.

The wave plates are offered with multiple wavelengths — 405, 488, 532, 560, 633 and 650 nm — or achromatic designs, and identify the fast axis, marked on the edge of the glass, for convenience and ease of use. The λ/4 achromatic plate provides a 450- to 600-nm-wavelength range.
