Apex Technologies has launched the AP264XB optical complex spectrum analyzer, which can function as both an optical modulation analyzer and as an optical spectrum analyzer for various testing and measurement applications.

The instrument can measure any modulation format and any baud rate cycling signal modulated with a PRBS (pseudo random binary sequence) pattern or a long pattern. Its measurement speed is about 1 Hz. It can separately and simultaneously measure two polarization axes and analyze Pol-Mux modulated formats.

As an optical modulation analyzer, it can measure chirp, phase, alpha parameter or pulse shape as a function of time. It displays constellation, phase eye diagram and intensity eye diagram.

As an optical spectrum analyzer, the equipment offers ±3-pm wavelength accuracy and 83-dB dynamic range.

The device can also be operated independently as a tunable laser source or as an optical component analyzer.
