VAN NUYS, Calif., Sept. 4, 2014 — The new direct-drive linear motor with built-in linear optical quadrature encoder from MotiCont eliminates backlash and provides high acceleration and speed.

The SDLM-051 offers 5.2-µm, 1.25-µm and submicron resolutions. The motor has a 25.4-mm stroke with continuous force of 5 lbs (22.2 N) and a peak force of 15.8 lbs (70.2 N).

The device is suited for laser machining, as well as automated assembly, component insertion and other applications in processing, manufacturing, medicine, inspection and metrology.
