PITTSBURGH — A high-power, 1-W, 980-nm pump laser module from II-VI Inc. provides erbium-doped fiber amplifier designers with new options to increase output power per stage for high-power dense wavelength division multiplexing applications.

The new module can replace pairs of lower-power modules, enabling thermally efficient and environmentally conscious designs.

The device enables up to 1050 mW of kink-free optical power through a grating-stabilized single-mode fiber. The module is housed in a 10-pin, minibutterfly package and is qualified for the requirements of Telcordia GR-468-CORE.
