dHEADRenishaw Inc.'s 15 x 15 x 8.8-mm read head operates at speeds up to 15 m/s with resolutions as high as 0.2 µm. The RGH34 linear encoder read head is designed for applications where a conventional, enclosed read head will not fit, such as with microstages, microscopes and ultrasmall linear actuators. The device runs on 40-µm pitch scales, with 1.5-mm ride height and wide setup tolerances. It uses an RGS42 rolled-gold scale made from thin, flexible steel that is gold-plated for high reflectivity and corrosion resistance.
