Hamamatsu Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPM)Thanks to its high internal gain, the silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) is an option, along with photomultiplier tubes, for detecting ultra-low light. Hamamatsu offers SiPM under the name Multi-Pixel Photon Counter. These devices feature high photon detection efficiency, low noise, high speed response, and excellent time resolution. They are suitable for fluorescence measurement, medical imaging (such as TOF-PET), radiation monitoring, high-energy physics, LIDAR, and other applications.

Hamamatsu offers a large selection of SiPM products, from single-channel detectors to arrays to modules. Single-channel detectors are available in various sizes, package types, and cooling options. Our SiPM arrays feature TSV (through silicon vias) that minimizes dead space between each element, with standard arrays available in 4 x 4 and 8 x 8 channel configurations.

Other array configurations are under development. Modules are available as bare-board types or enclosed in a chassis, with digital or analog output, and with a SiPM single-channel detector or multichannel array. In addition to our wide lineup of standard products, we can customize silicon photomultipliers to fulfill your specific requirements.
