KOMAKI, Japan, Jan. 24, 2017 — Super-Flat Spatial Light ModulatorSantec Corp. has announced a super-flatness of λ/40 at 633 nm using wavefront correction technology in a spatial light modulator (SLM) based on a liquid crystal on silicon device.

The modulator’s advanced high resolution of 10-bits is applied to compensate for the intrinsic spatial optical distortion and aberration in the LCOS device using a look-up table. The wavefront correction technology is available for several SLM-100 models in optional visible wavelength.

Super-flatness in an SLM is needed for various industrial applications such as astrophysics, precision holography and laser processing to achieve ideal optical performance on the image plane.
