KARLSRUHE, Germany, Oct. 12, 2017 — Imaging SoftwareThe EyeVision 3D software from EVT Eye Vision Technology now features a 3D-Unrolling command which straightens images of tilt scans or respectively unrolls them.

EyeVision is an image processing software for quality inspection, supporting various 3D sensors and evaluating and carrying out measurements on 3D point clouds. The image captured by the tilt scan looks a bit like a cylinder. The 3D-Unrolling command straightens the image and results in an undistorted point cloud which unfolds in an X,Y and Z direction.

The EyeVision 3D software supports various laser triangulation sensors of different makers. After the unrolling, the software can carry out further evaluations and measurements on the point cloud such as the counting or aligning objects, pattern matching and error detection on the surface and measuring of objects. This can be used for the inspection of printed circuit boards, counting of objects on the conveyor belt, or surface scan of large objects, which can then be checked for flaws.
