KYOTO, Japan, May 15, 2018 — Precision RefractometerThe KPR-300 Kalnew precision refractometer from Shimadzu Corp. can measure the refractive indices of transparent samples for optical applications, including lenses and prisms, to an accuracy of ±4 × 10−5.

The V-block method has been adopted in this product as the measurement technique, enabling the measurement of refractive indices with high accuracy and repeatability. The instrument was developed for use in quality control applications during mass production of glass and lenses, especially molded lenses.

The refractometer was developed to expand sales for applications such as R&D and quality control, with respect to glass-molded lenses, functional glasses, and functional resins.
