RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, June 20, 2018 — The EXTEM thermoplastic polyimide (TPI) resin from SABIC features low haze, IR transparency, and high glass transition temperature for optical sensor lens applications that require high refractive index and low moisture uptake, and need to be able to use precision injection molding of freeform optics.

EXTEM resin's extreme high-temperature capabilities provide the opportunity for use in lead-free reflow soldering processes, enabling cost-effective and productive assembly of micronized components.

The TPI resin allows customers to micromold surface structures for diffractive optical elements, or even a combination of both refractive and diffractive elements, which are still able to withstand the high-heat reflow soldering process for on-chip assembly.
