Ophir Optronics Inc. has released the BeamStar CCD beam profiler system for use with pulsed and continuous-wave lasers with up to 12 decades of dynamic range. When the included filters are combined with the built-in shutter control, the system achieves a range of beam attenuation of 2 x 108. The system software features 2- or 3-D display, frame freeze, video recording, zoom and centroid indication. The BeamStar-V has a spectral response range of 350 to 1100 nm, and the BeamStar-U's response range is 190 to 1100 nm.
