RADIATION MODE SUPPRESSION FIBER
ProPhotonix Ltd.Request Info
An optical fiber for the mass production of fiber Bragg gratings has been released by StockerYale. The PS-RMS-50 is a single-mode fiber with a core and cladding that are photosensitive to UV radiation. This minimizes transmission loss by eliminating cladding and radiation modes, and allows gratings to be written in both core and cladding. The fiber is designed for operation at 1275 to 1650 nm and features a mode-field diameter and numerical aperture that produce splice losses of <0.2 dB to standard single-mode fiber. The fiber does not require hydrogen loading for the writing of deep gratings.
