Engineering evaluation units of Micro Laser Systems' high-power blue diode lasers are now available. They are suitable for scientific use or for printing and DVD applications. The circular beam is 6 mm in diameter, and the diffraction-limited output is between 15 and 24 mW. For spectroscopic use, the beam diameter is 2 mm and the optical output is maximized to produce 20 to 24 mW. The laser is temperature-cooled for longer lifetime. For printing and DVD applications, the wavefront is optimized and the user has direct access to the diode laser pins for connection to a high-frequency circuit. All of the optics are coated for the 405-nm region.
