The FBG600 frequency-doubled UV copper laser from Oxford Lasers is designed for fiber Bragg grating manufacture. It offers high-speed production and high yields that make it suitable for use with standard fiber or crystalline material, including lithium niobate and new materials such as tin-doped fiber. The laser consumes 4 kW and delivers 600 mW of average power in a 6-kHz train of small pulses. It eliminates the need for toxic gas and operates on a trickle flow of neon. It features a beam diameter of 4 mm with a divergence of 0.3 mrad, spatial coherence of better than 2 mm and a coherence length of 40 mm, which enables fiber Bragg grating production using phase-mask and holographic techniques.
