nCuring The UV-VIS spot light sources in the Lightningcure LC5 series from Hamamatsu Corp. provide a 3000-h average life cycle. They are suitable for the UV curing of medical supplies, optical parts and fiber optic connectors, as well as for bonding surface-mount devices, head gimbal assembly and sealing liquid crystal and electronic parts. They use a 200-W mercury-xenon lamp that delivers 3.5 W/cm2 at 365 nm. The cassette-type lamp eliminates the need for optical alignment and can be replaced in about 30 s. Features include a power-driven aperture that allows output to be externally controlled, an LCD and a durable shutter.
