Advanced Photonix Inc. has released three silicon PIN photodiodes for optical telecommunications. Their lowcapacitance design produces high-speed response up to 1.5 GHz. The detectors are available with active areas of 0.2, 0.5 and 1.0 mm and are supplied in a hermetically sealed TO-46 package that interfaces to standard fiber connectors. Each device is supplied with a flat, domed or microball window cap. The company also produces packages with custom fiber connectors. Typical applications include LANs, WANs, CATV and instrumentation.
