McPherson Inc. has released double monochromators featuring dual 350-mm focal length with f/4.8, ±0.07-nm accuracy in the visible, ±0.005-nm reproducibility and continuous stray light rejection of 10-9 to 10-10. The double additive monochromator includes mechanical linkage of two sine drives and wavelength control via a single-motor, high-resolution-scan drive, while the subtractive unit uses either single- or dual-motor drives, depending on the configuration. The device is suitable for Raman or photoluminescence applications that require the suppression of strong Rayleigh scatter to detect weak signal events, and for source and detector standardization. A stepper drive interface allows operation via a PC.
