The eXpander is a turnkey subsystem designed to enable telecom equipment manufacturers to speed their time to market. It expands the usable bandwidth of fiber into the S-band by allowing fiber to carry an additional 96 channels of 10-Gb/s transmission at 50-Ghz spacing. Xtera Communications Inc. designed it for integration with current DWDM equipment and can facilitate upgrades. The system features components from Lightwave Microsystems and Oplink Communications.
