A fiber preparation system that manufactures fiber/ferrule assemblies for use as pigtails on optical devices has been unveiled by kSaria Corp. It comprises three docked modules that perform specific steps in the automated assembly process: tray management, fiber preparation and ferrule attachment. The station inputs a reel of fiber and ferrules as raw material and outputs fiber pigtails on work trays ready for the next process. This system, controlled by Windows NT, offers a throughput of 120 fibers per hour, a yield of >99% and downtime of <5%.
