The Broadband GainChip from Princeton Lightwave Inc. is designed to enable more than 40 mW from an external-cavity network source laser. The company says this indium-phosphide-based semiconductor chip-on-carrier enables external-cavity laser customers to offer more than double the power currently available, while tuning over the entire telecommunications band. The device features high power, a simplified chip design, a smaller package and tuning over the S-, C- and L-bands within the external cavity.
