The procedure achieves higher internal transmission, especially inside the blue wavelength region, making the glass suitable for miniaturized lens systems, such as those used as ball lenses or microprisms in medical technology for endoscopes, microscopes and other microlenses. Internal transmission is 63% at 400 nm for a thickness of 10 mm.
