TOKYO, Nov. 12 -- Calient Networks, which develops intelligent, all-photonic switching systems, has begun pre-deployment staging for Japan Telecom's all-optical switched network. After a year of joint network design and testing, the companies are moving into end-to-end network configuration and interoperability staging with Calient's DiamondWave system, its generalized multiprotocol label switching (GMPLS) protocol code stack and Cisco Systems' GSR routers.
