Bedford, Mass.-based Hologic Inc. has received FDA approval for two of its tests for the human papilloma virus. The company’s HPV HR (high risk) and HPV 16/18 were designed to detect the 14 high-risk types of the virus, known to cause cervical cancer, and to detect types 16 and 18, which are associated with about 70 percent of cervical cancers, respectively.
