  • Arrow, Cree to Host West Coast Lighting Fair

MELVILLE, N.Y., and DURHAM, N.C., Oct. 28, 2010 — Arrow Electronics Inc. and Cree Inc. of Melville and Durham, respectively, have teamed with leading manufacturers of complementary components to host a lighting design seminar and solutions fair Dec. 1-2 at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, Calif. The free two-day event is for lighting engineers, specifiers and designers, and for professionals looking to accelerate the conversion to solid-state lighting.

Cree Chairman and CEO Chuck Swoboda’s keynote address will be on the state of the solid-state lighting market and on accelerating the transition from traditional to LED lighting.

Speakers will include energy and municipal specialists such as Michael Seaman of the California Lighting Technology Center at the University of California, Davis; Aaron Klemm, energy project manager for the city of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and Teren Abear of Southern California Edison Design and Engineering Services.

Seminars and technical training will be provided by Arrow, Cree and related manufacturers on topics including LED design, LED drivers and controls, optics and thermal considerations, and converting municipalities to LEDs.

“Arrow works with partners like Cree to offer customers a complete lighting solution from concept development to production,” said Gary Zullo, director of Arrow’s lighting segment. “As LEDs become more widely accepted, we’ll continue to identify new ways to support our customers with the knowledge, training and tools they need to move ahead with their solid-state lighting projects.”

Some of the manufacturers participating in the seminar and solutions fair are Analog Devices Inc., Autec Power Systems, California Eastern Labs, Cypress Semiconductor, Diodes Inc., Emerson Network Power, Fraen Corp., Infineon Technologies, Linear Technology, Micrel, Molex, National Semiconductor, NXP Semiconductors, ON Semiconductor, Recom Power, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Tyco Electronics.
