Gould Fiber Optics Receives Navy Award
MILLERSVILLE, Md., Feb. 9, 2011 — Gould Fiber Optics announced it received a multimillion dollar Life of Type Buy contract from the US Navy to supply several thousand premium grade polarization maintaining fiber splitters through March 2012.
The company was selected to support the modernization and life extension of the US Navy’s Trident Missile Guidance System. It has worked with Draper Laboratory, the prime contractor for the modernization of the system, and its inertial sensor subcontractor, Honeywell, to develop high-performance optical fiber splitters for fiber optic gyroscopes.
Gould manufactures premium passive fiber optic, planar components and integrated modules for the military, aerospace, sensors and telecommunications industries.
