POPLARVILLE, Miss., Jan. 23, 2013 — Quantum Scientific Imaging Inc. has introduced the QSI RS Series deep-cooled scientific CCD cameras.
Featuring a variety of full-frame and interline transfer CCDs from 768 × 512 pixels up to 8.3 megapixels, the cameras are suitable for life sciences and research applications, including fluorescence microscopy, gel documentation, chemiluminescence, spectroscopy, drug discovery and protein analysis.
Dual read rates of up to 8 MHz with high-speed USB 2.0, deep cooling to greater than 45 °C below ambient and full 16-bit pixel depth produce high-quality images with high frame rates, a wide dynamic range, good linearity and low noise.
The cameras are available with no-cover-glass CCDs and fused silica windows for maximum transmission from 240 nm in the ultraviolet through the visual band up to 1100 nm in the near-infrared. Electronic input and output triggers with latency of 5 µs allow precise exposure timing and triggering of external events such as strobes. RS 4.2 and RS 2.0 models support particle image velocimetry exposure mode for flow visualization with two exposures as close together as 100 µs.
Cooling is achieved with a two-stage thermoelectric cooler providing regulated cooling to >45 °C below ambient, or >50 °C with the optional liquid heat exchanger.
