  • LightPath Signs Distributor for Southeast Asia
Aug 2013
ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 15, 2013 — LightPath Technologies has signed an agreement with AceXon Technologies to distribute its optical products throughout Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

“LightPath is continuing its strategy of improving cost structures, expanding markets and addressing higher volumes,” said LightPath’s CEO, Jim Gaynor. “A key part of this strategy is to improve our channels to our markets. Since 2004, AceXon has developed strong relationships with OEM customers in a variety of optoelectronic markets ranging from industrial to scientific to medical. AceXon has a strong emphasis on laser-based applications, distributing DPSS, fiber, gas lasers as well as laser diodes. Many of these lasers can be used with the optics and optical assemblies that LightPath produces, making this agreement a natural fit.”

LightPath produces optics and photonics products for the industrial, defense, telecommunications, testing and measurement, and medical industries. AceXon is a sales and technical service provider specializing in lasers, electro-optics and photonics.

A sub-field of photonics that pertains to an electronic device that responds to optical power, emits or modifies optical radiation, or utilizes optical radiation for its internal operation. Any device that functions as an electrical-to-optical or optical-to-electrical transducer. Electro-optic often is used erroneously as a synonym.
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
