Profits Up at Photronics

Photronics Inc. reported second-quarter profits of $15.5 million, up 216 percent from $4.9 million the same period last year.

Total sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2014 were $104.9 million, a sequential increase of 3 percent compared with $101.5 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2014. Sales for the second quarter of 2013 were $106.7 million.

The company also reported that it launched a joint venture in Taiwan with Dai Nippon Printing of Tokyo. The collaboration will enable efficient delivery in the region of photomasks, which are precision quartz plates used to transfer circuit patterns during the manufacture of semiconductors and flat panel displays.
