Novotech Completes Modernization Plan
Infrared optics and germanium materials supplier Novotech Inc. has completed its 2011 equipment modernization plan, which included the purchase of automated robotic optics edging and curve-generating machines capable of producing several thousand units per day.
In addition, Novotech said, a numerical-controlled CNC polishing machine from Optipro of Ontario, N.Y., will be able to handle large-size windows and lenses up to 200 mm in diameter. Several STC saws were upgraded with numerical controllers, and two additional ID saws were delivered. They will come online January 2012.
A Precitech diamond turning machine was upgraded with the HS75 high-speed spindle. In addition, a Dorsey high-precision digital comparator with an NC controller and electronic edge finder capability, along with an ABTech multiaxis centration inspection station, was added to further the company’s metrology capabilities.
