Coractive Appoints CEO: People in the News: 5/22/2024

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 22, 2024 — Jabil, a provider of engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain solutions, has implemented changes to its senior leadership team, effective immediately. Michael Dastoor, who has served as CFO and interim CEO, was appointed as CEO on a permanent basis. Dastoor succeeded Kenneth Wilson, who will no longer serve on the company’s board of directors. Gregory Hebard, most recently treasurer and senior vice president, has been appointed CFO. The actions follow completion of an investigation related to corporate policies, which Jabil initially disclosed April 18, and which the company said did not relate to and does not impact its financial statements or financial reporting. Separately, the company appointed Fred McCoy as executive vice president of operations, and Steve Borges, Matt Crowley, and Andy Priestley as executive vice president of global business units.

QUÉBEC — Fiber optics manufacturer Coractive has added Michael Yang as its CEO. He succeeds Jean-Noel Maran who held the position for more than three years. Yang brings 20 years of management experience to Coractive, having worked at GfK as the national general manager, at Amazon as category lead, and has held roles at companies including Dell and Siemens.

WAUSAU, Wis. — The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) has appointed Dr. Arisa E. Ortiz as its president, succeeding Murad Alam, who now serves as the society’s past president. Dr. Ortiz is the director of laser and cosmetic dermatology and an associate clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California, San Diego. She is the author of more than 60 publications and has research interests in laser treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Optica and the University of Arizona have awarded the Jean M. Bennett Optica Endowed Chair to Hong Hua. Hua is a professor of optical sciences at the University of Arizona and leads the 3-D Visualization and Imaging Systems laboratory at the James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences. Hua is an Optica Fellow and former president, as well as a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors and SPIE. She holds more than 50 U.S. and foreign patents, and has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal publications. 

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) Global Forum, a private sector organization for the development of IOWN technologies, has elected five directors to its board. The directors are senior researcher of Chunghwa Telecom Rong-Ruey Lee, Ericsson chief standardization officer Per Beming, Microsoft director of global transformation strategy Mike Kellogg, Nokia vice president of optical networks Giovanni Manto, and Red Hat CTO and senior vice president of global engineering Chris Wright.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Silicon Valley-based provider of microelectronics assembly services Promex has appointed Matt Hansen to the company’s newly created position of director of sales and business development. He will be responsible for securing new business and expanding Promex’s market presence beyond its core medtech and biotech applications. Hansen has more than 25 years of experience spanning sales, marketing, and business development. He has held vice president of sales and marketing roles at TFE and TSE, producers of components for semiconductor testing. Hansen also served as CEO of test socket maker OKins USA, and as vice president of sales and marketing for outsourced semiconductor, assembly, and test provider CORWIL Technology.
