StellarNet Inc. has introduced a xenon light source accessory for use with its portable fiber optic spectrometers. The SL4 measures color, chemical concentrations, absorbance and transmittance. It covers the wavelength range from 200 to 1100 nm and has a minijack-terminated cable that plugs directly into the EPP2000 spectrometer, providing synchronization of 8.5 mJ per flash. The light source measures 1.5 x 2.5 x 6 in., operates on 12 VDC and inxcludes an integrated 0.5-in.-diameter filter-holder nose cone for attaching SMA-905 fiber optic cables.
