The system can be used to weld semiconductors and metals such as steel, platinum, gold, titanium, brass, bronze and nitinol. The beam source is a pulse-driven Nd:YAG laser that emits at 1064 nm, and the laser energy is transmitted through a quartz-glass fiber and focused on approximately 100 µm.
