HUDSON, N.H., Aug. 10 -- Laser Components has introduced a new generation of colorPol high-transmittance (HT) polarizers. The colorPol IR 1550 BC4 HT and colorPol IR 1310 BC4 HT filters feature contrast ratios greater than 10,000:1 (> 40dB) and loss as low < 0.1 dB (approx. 98% transmission) at 1,550 nm and 1,310 nm, respectively. The refractive index of n = 1.52, is specifically suited for telecom applications (XS, S, L and C bands). The colorPol IR 2000 BC2 HT was developed for infrared (IR) applications needing high extinction, very high transmission and a broad spectral range (1.2 µm to 2.5 µm).
   These polarizers can be made in sizes from 1 x 1 mm2 to 50 x 40 mm2 and in circular, square or rectangular shapes. Like all colorPol products, these have a wide operating-temperature range (>= -50°C to +400°C), extraordinary resistance to extreme climates and resistance to high-intensity ultraviolet radiation and almost all solvents, acids, alkaline solutions and distilled water. They have a large acceptance angle for incident radiation and can come with antireflection coating on one or both sides.

For requirements needing minimum wavefront distortion, the new polarizers are available in standard mounts of 12.5- or 25-mm diameter, featuring a wavefront distortion that does not exceed lambda/4.
