A 1310-nm Fabry-Perot horizontal-cavity surface-emitting laser based on proprietary etched-facet technology has been introduced by BinOptics Corp. The device combines a horizontal laser cavity with a 45° etched reflecting mirror to direct the output beam vertically. It is designed for uncooled operation at 2.5 Gb/s with optical output of 20 mW and a slope efficiency of up to 0.3 W/A. It is available with or without an integrated monitoring photodetector and is suitable for Ethernet, Access and PON applications.
