The Dimensionizer System from Bare Hill Software Co. is a noncontact 3-D optical measuring system that uses two 5-megapixel Minolta Dimage7i CCD cameras mounted on a precision bar. The user snaps dual photos of objects, adjusts the images in Adobe Photoshop and runs the Microsoft Windows software to perform quick search and triangulation computations that yield global and relative dimensional information. Measurement accuracy is better than 1% at close range and 5% at long ranges. The system offers a choice of four lens focal length settings. Applications include site surveys, macroscopic studies of flora and fauna, and historical preservation.
