A lens with selectable 50- and 250-mm fields of view and an operational wavelength of 3 to 5 µm has been developed by Precision-Optical Engineering for applications such as surveillance and remotely controlled vehicles. The 50-250 athermalized lens system features a multielement design that uses a variety of IR optical materials for aberration correction. The lenses are housed in a rugged assembly with a servo-driven feedback focus mechanism. The company says it can be readily interfaced to a camera system and electronics.
