Holo/Or Ltd. has released an optical element that corrects chromatic aberrations in dual-wavelength laser setups. Shaped like a typical planoconvex lens, the element has an added diffractive pattern on the plano surface that corrects for chromatic aberrations when 633-nm and 10.6-μm laser lines are used concurrently in surgical or industrial applications. The unmounted ZnSe lens has an antireflection coating, a diameter of 1.1 in. and a working distance of 100 mm. It handles incident beams of 4 to 12 mm in diameter. Custom wavelengths, beam sizes, mountings, working distances, and beam sizes and shapes are available.
