OTTAWA, Ontario, May 1, 2007 -- Digital camera manufacturer Lumenera Corp. announced the release of the Lw11059 series of CCD megapixel USB 2.0 cameras, designed for use in a variety of industrial and scientific applications where ultrahigh resolution and low-light performance are required.

LumeneraLw11059.jpgThe camera features 4008 x 2672 resolution and on-board processing. Ideal applications include display and document inspection where optical performance is important throughout the entire image, including its edges, Lumenera said.

Uncompressed images such as streaming video and still image capture are provided across a USB 2.0 digital interface. No frame grabber is required. Advanced camera control is available through a complete software developer's kit, with sample code available to quickly integrate camera functions into OEM applications.

The camera series is offered with a hardware- and software-based synchronization trigger, and is available with three different lens mount options: Lw11059 with a Canon bayonet-style mount; Lw11058 with a K-mount; and the Lw11057 with an F-mount.

"The 11 megapixel image quality is unsurpassed," said Corey Fellows, director of business development industrial markets for Lumenera. "The simplicity of a USB 2.0 interface has enabled a significantly lower overall system cost by eliminating the need for a frame grabber or proprietary hardware. Lower system costs open up a variety of new applications that have long demanded higher resolution."
