Visible Even in Direct Sunlight
TORRANCE, Calif., May 17, 2007 -- LEDtronics Inc. has introduced a discrete 5-mm (T1½) standard dome aqua-green LED, the LD200-0AG-15D. The 525-nm aqua-green LED, with a water-clear lens and a 15-degree viewing angle, uses an indium gallium nitride (InGaN) diode with optical-grade epoxy to produce a 28,000-mcd illumination at 20 mA that is visible even in direct sunlight.

Ledtronics.jpgLD200-0AG-15D is a next-generation aqua-green LED that lights up many different types of applications. They can be used as individual pixels in a large dot-matrix screen, full color screens, moving signs, displays, minilamps, standard electrical-based bulbs, theater décor, push button switches, telecommunications data products, medical equipment lighting, backlighting and more, the company said.

Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), LED lamps operate more than 20 times longer than the equivalent incandescent lamp. Savings from reduced maintenance costs and downtime quickly return the capital investment expenditure. LED lamps produce almost no heat and require 80 to 90 percent less operating power than equivalent incandescents, making them as friendly to the environment as they are to the operating budget, LEDtronics said.
