Tofra.jpgTofra Inc. has released an RGB LED light source with computer-controlled intensity for upright microscopes. Providing bright, uniform and diffuse illumination of a large specimen area, the device allows independent and accurate control of red, green and blue LEDs to create any desired color or intensity. It can produce color images from monochrome cameras, producing full noninterpolated color at every pixel. The source’s controller connects to the computer serial or USB port through a USB-to-RS-232 converter. Wavelengths are 619 nm for red, 515 nm for green and 465 nm for blue. Suitable for scanning applications, the device’s switching time is less than 1 ms.
