SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 24, 2009 – The Advanced Power TopLED Plus is a new optimized white LED from Osram Opto Semiconductors Inc., designed for architectural and retail lighting. Housed in a robust package, it combines high brightness and luminous efficiency of up to 90 lm/W. It is suitable for applications that require bright light in a limited space, such as highlighting architectural edges and contours or illuminating surfaces in a uniform light.

Osram_TopLED.jpgThe LED produces a luminous flux of up to 27 lm (100 mA / 5700 K). The company says that it is on average 15% brighter than the standard version. Available in various white tones ranging from 2700 to 6500 K, from warm white to cool white, it is intended for linear lighting applications and retail lighting of freezer cases and display shelves. It also can be used to illuminate the facades and outlines of buildings.

It combines low power consumption and compact size. This high-intensity LED has a typical beam angle of 140° and homogeneous white color from every viewing angle. Its small dimensions enable light to be mixed in constricted spaces, producing a more homogeneous light on a surface than that produced by a few large LEDs.

It is specified for a connected load of up to 0.5 W. Heat is efficiently dissipated via gull-wing connections to the lead frame and the printed circuit board, so there is no need for expensive thermal management.
