Semrock.jpgSemrock Inc. has unveiled high-performance, high-reliability filters at UV wavelengths made with proprietary ion beam-sputtering technology. The filters include 248- and 266-nm versions of the ultrasharp RazorEdge filters for Raman spectroscopy. They provide laser-line blocking of greater than OD 6 and have ultrasteep edges. They offer more than 90% average transmission over the passband. The company also released a 266-nm MaxLine laser clean-up filter that exceeds 55% at the laser line, as well as a 280-nm bandpass filter that provides >70% UV transmission over the 20-nm passband. It performs broad and deep blocking of nonessential wavelengths.

Raman spectroscopy
That branch of spectroscopy concerned with Raman spectra and used to provide a means of studying pure rotational, pure vibrational and rotation-vibration energy changes in the ground level of molecules. Raman spectroscopy is dependent on the collision of incident light quanta with the molecule, inducing the molecule to undergo the change.
