Rad-icon Imaging Corp., a division of Dalsa Corp., has released the Helios10 MD panel, the first product in the company’s new Helios camera family. With an active sensing area of 20 x 25 cm, the CMOS x-ray panel is a medical-grade cassette package with an integrated handle. It was designed to meet the requirements of a variety of medical imaging applications such as full-field digital mammography, general radiography, bone densitometry and other mobile digital radiography uses. The panel builds on the tiled configuration of Rad-icon’s RadEye100 very large area CMOS image sensors to achieve its total active sensing area, while maintaining high image resolution with a pixel size of 96 µm. The active-pixel CMOS photo-diode array at the core of the panel consists of more than 5 million pixels that convert light emitted by the integrated scintillator screen into an electrical signal. The detector’s low-noise, 14-bit digital output produces crisp, sharp images, high sensitivity and a high dynamic range.
